Pastor, Activist,
Thought-Leader,
and Servant Steward.

Dr. Marlving P. Charlet is an ordained minister, passionate pastor, community engager, and author committed to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. As a courageous, dynamic, and visionary leader, his excitement for the Gospel continues to be demonstrated by allowing God to use him in a mighty way. With over 25 years in ministry, Marlving is driven by a passion and love for serving God, family, church, and community. He currently pastors the East New York SDA Church in Brooklyn, NY.
 

In the community, Marlving’s work stretches to and encourages all whom he encounters. He is an avid advocate for the social justice for black and brown people. Further, with his social work training, Marlving worked with children, youth, and families in the school system and even directed youth groups in providing psychosocial and emotional support. 


Marlving has been blessed to minister in Nairobi and Eldoret in Kenya, and in various parts of Canada, Brazil, Venezuela, Guyana, Mexico, and Jamaica. His goal has always been, and continues to be, to share the love of Jesus with diverse population groups so that all can come to know Jesus as Christ eternal. He has a uniquely shaped voice that shines through in his preaching, his activism, his evangelism, and his connection with the communities in which he serves. 


Marlving received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology and a minor in Correctional Science from Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama. Even after receiving double Masters, one in Divinity in Preaching & Homiletics from Andrews University and the second in Clinical Social Work with Family, Children & Youth from The Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College, Marlving was determined to continue his education in service to the community. As a result, he went on to earn his Doctor of Ministry Degree in Preaching & Leadership from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.


He is the author of the book, “Implementing a 21st Century Stewardship Ministry: Equipping and Empowering Lay Leaders for Effective Ministry,” and “Next Chapter Living: The Art of Purpose-Driven Stewardship.” He is married to the love of his life, Fayola, who is in her 14th year as a licensed practicing attorney, and they have two amazing children, Emearson and Adelaide. He lives by the motto, “A life so blessed should be lived in service to others.”
